Choosing a Commercial Solar Installer in Hertfordshire
Commercial solar is a different job from domestic, and the installer checks are different too. The contractor needs MCS certification for the install to qualify for the Smart Export Guarantee, but on a commercial roof you should also be asking about G99 grid applications (almost every commercial array needs formal DNO approval rather than a simple notification), structural loading sign-off on the roof deck, and whether the team has worked around an operating business without shutting it down.
We are an MCS-certified installer based in St Albans, and we handle the whole chain in-house: roof and structural survey, system design, the G99 application to UK Power Networks, installation by our own directly-employed engineers, commissioning and MCS certification. That matters commercially because a single accountable contractor is the difference between a two-week and a two-month programme when something needs changing on site.
Practical questions worth asking any commercial installer before you sign: who submits and tracks the G99 application; whether the generation estimate uses MCS-standard methodology; what the workmanship warranty covers and who honours it; whether the crew are employed or subcontracted; and how the install is phased around your trading hours. Good contractors answer all five without hesitation.
We install commercial arrays across Hertfordshire and North London — St Albans, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Stevenage and the surrounding business parks and industrial estates. If your site is outside that area we will say so rather than take the job on and subcontract it.
