Choosing a Battery Storage Installer
Battery storage is an electrical installation with its own competency requirements, so the installer matters as much as the battery. Look for MCS certification (required if you want your system to qualify for the Smart Export Guarantee), electrical competence via NAPIT or NICEIC, and genuine, current experience with the specific battery you are being quoted — a team that has fitted one Powerwall is not the same as a team that fits them weekly.
We install SigEnergy and Tesla Powerwall systems and are MCS, RECC, TrustMark and OZEV accredited. Batteries can be fitted alongside a new solar array or retrofitted to an existing one, and a retrofit is often the better-value upgrade if you already have panels and are currently exporting most of your generation for a few pence a unit.
The sizing conversation is where most of the value sits. A battery that is too large never fully cycles and simply ties up capital; too small and you are still importing through the evening peak. We size against your actual consumption pattern and your export tariff, because on a time-of-use tariff a battery earns on both sides — cheaper overnight import and higher-value peak export.
