FAQ| Marlow

My home is on low ground in Marlow. Does flood risk affect a solar installation?

Flood risk is not one of the permitted development conditions for panels on a house's roof, but it does matter where the equipment goes. The Environment Agency's £9.5 million Marlow flood alleviation scheme, completed in autumn 2018, reduced flood risk to some 287 properties. The agency says low-lying areas of Marlow are prone to flooding from groundwater travelling up through the gravels below. Buckinghamshire Council's separate Newt Ditch scheme aims to reduce flood risk to around 100 residential and 60 non-residential properties in eastern Marlow. Tell us if your property has flooded before, and we will agree positions for the inverter, isolators and any battery that keep them away from the lowest spots.
