Are riverside properties suitable for solar?

A riverside location does not rule solar out. Panels on the roof are out of the way of flood water, so the questions are shading and where the inverter, battery and isolators go. The Environment Agency says the Jubilee flood relief channel and the defences in Cookham and North Maidenhead are designed to reduce the risk of flooding to approximately 3,000 properties, but it still lists flood areas for the River Thames at Maidenhead and Bray. Tesla's Powerwall 3 manual says to install it in a location that prevents damage from flooding. Maidenhead Riverside is also a conservation area, where the extra restriction covers panels on walls, balconies or roof enclosures fronting a highway, not roof slopes, and a flat-roof array needs a prior approval application first.
