Usually not for panels on a pitched roof, unless an Article 4 Direction applies. The Hoddesdon Conservation Area covers the Market Place, the southern end of Amwell Street, Burford Street and the High Street, including Cock Lane and Yewlands. Within it, panels on a house's roof slope are permitted development if they project no more than 0.2 metres and sit no higher than the highest part of the roof, excluding chimneys.
